Susan, we certainly have similar styles, though in a different medium! This is a particularly wonderful painting, especially of the eyes. I've never tried a dog portrait in oil. The past 3 1/2 years I've tried to learn watercolor techniques, so I dropped oils as I had to learn the think backwards... leave the whites, add the darkest colors last. This is opposite of oils in which you paint the highlights over the dark colors. Your work is beautiful.
